Tuesday 28th November 2019, 9.30am – 3.00pm, University of Birmingham

Quantum theory is one of the most significant breakthroughs of the 20th century. It has led to the development of some of the most widely used technologies including the transistor and laser, which are now pretty much commonplace.

A new generation of quantum technologies is enabling and driving a different range of previously impossible devices and systems to solve currently intractable problems.  As a result, we are seeing greater opportunities for making tech products faster and smaller, with the potential to provide enhanced levels of accuracy and precision.

The Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund announced an investment pot of up to £33million to support projects that will help speed up the commercialisation of these quantum technologies earlier this year. This month, a new funding competition was launched that will award up to £30million to industry-led projects aimed at addressing technical barriers to the commercial or industrial exploitation of quantum technologies in the UK.

This free workshop invites you to come and learn about the major developments taking place in quantum technologies and explore how your business/industry could benefit.

The University of Birmingham's Centre for Innovation in Advanced Measurement in Manufacturing can then offer pre-funded assistance in helping you realise your future aspirations by providing access to specialist expertise, world-class facilities and a wide network of potential collaborators.
