The University of Birmingham is pleased to announce its membership with Made in the Midlands, the leading manufacturing and engineering membership group across the Midlands.  We are naturally delighted to be part of a collective group of 400+ firms,  including SMEs, large corporates and global organisations.

The University of Birmingham is a major provider of business support services, with a number of initiatives available for SMEs across various Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) areas, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

We look forward to working with you, in the not too distant future, to see how our professional support could benefit your business.

Upcoming half-day workshop themed around Quantum Technologies - Thursday 23rd May 2019, 9.30am - 1.30pm, Birmingham

There's always something interesting happening at the University of Birmingham, so we take this opportunity of bringing to your attention a forthcoming (limited places) workshop which will provide you with great insights into the emergent and disruptive nature of quantum technologies. In its last budget announcement, the UK Government committed a further £250million to the development of quantum technology as it offers great potential for businesses to improve their measurement capabilities and develop more accurate, faster and innovative products.

Whilst to some this may be futuristic, this event is a unique invitation for SMEs to come and learn about the significant developments being made in the areas of metrology and  sensors. Businesses have benefitted from our leading expertise and world-class facilities which are inspiring the next generation of sensors across a range of sectors including civil engineering, manufacturing, medical technologies and transportation.

Through our Centre for Innovation in Advanced Measurement in Manufacturing (CIAMM), you'll have direct access to pre-funded support which can help you realise your own product development aspirations, now!

If you're involved in additive manufacturing, electronics, FPGA programming,  laser technologies, optics, vacuum chambers  and anything related, this is an event not to be missed as we are looking to develop a West Midlands quantum community and need your help with supporting our future sensor development programme.
